Mike Chapman Surprises Voters

Mike Chapman, Dem Rep for District 24, surprised many by voting against a bill that would have capped rent increases but the same can not be said for fellow lunatic Steve Tharinger, also a District 24 Dem Rep, whom voted for the bill.

The rent increase cap bill would prohibit landlords from raising an existing tenant’s rent more than 7 percent in a year and Chapman is at least smart enough however to know that the bill would make regulations so onerous for small landlords that some end up selling homes off to out-of-state investors.

I can testify to that fact, the higher interest rates have put a damper on the practice of purchasing properties for the sole purpose of rental units but for years I was getting many offers that would pay over market value for rental type properties.

Chapman admits that many factors contributed to rent increases, including the statewide eviction [moratorium] during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 that also delayed collection of some rents. Chapman was also honest enough however to admit the debacle [that] legislation had caused.

Any tme any body legislates regulations such as The City of Port Angeles is attempting with their “Short Term Rentals” debacle is usually bad news and just creates more issues but all, of course, with the idea of Wokeness and Reparations to every lowlife migrunt but not ‘real’ American citizens.
